How my attendance/participation will contribute to my educational experience:
This conference is almost completely unique (as far as I am aware) in terms of providing a forum for ecologists and planners to get together to discuss urban-wildland and urban ecology issues. I am a Ph D student in interdisciplinary urban planning and I am in Dr. Marina Alberti’s urban ecology lab. My research interests are in linking conservation and urban planning and specifically focus on 1) expanding our knowledge of the effects of urban landscape patterns on ecological processes, 2) how that knowledge can be incorporated into linked conservation and development plans at multiple scales, and 3) how those plans can be effectively implemented. As a result, this conference is the absolute perfect fit for my research interests. I am currently in the process of finalizing my research plan for my dissertation and am hoping that I can get inspiration and feedback for my research through this conference. I have submitted a poster abstract and am hoping to get feedback and spark discussion for my research ideas during the poster session. However, as for most students, my participation is dependent upon receiving funding. Thank you for your consideration.

Title and authors of my oral/poster proposed for conference:
