How my attendance/participation will contribute to my educational experience:
I am planning to attend the Urban-Rural Interface conference in order to present my master's thesis project to an audience of professionals, and through this process, gain a deeper understanding of the findings of my project. I also expect to find a wealth of information about the environmental and social processes that take place on the urban margin, and their implications. Because I plan to work at the intersection of land use planning and community ecology, I am particularly interested in hearing about the work of S.T.A. Pickett and Marina Alberti. My hope is that through the discourse at the Urban-Rural Interface conference I can synthesize my recent academic education into knowledge that is applicable in our cities and countryside. Furthermore, at the conference I hope to meet and learn from people in the field who may serve as role models or helpful connections to job opportunities. Thank you for your consideration, Stella J.M. Cousins
